My new journey

I am about to embark on a journey. Actually, I have already departed, but I’m just not far past my front door. Where am I going? Well, I am going someplace where I have been before. As a matter of fact, I am going someplace where I used to spend a lot of time in my past life. I’m going back into the business of selling merchandise and information in online auctions.
You see, a few years back, I used to be really, heavily in the business of selling merchandise in online auctions like eBay and others. I got out of the business about 2 to 3 years ago, though. I was tired, and wanted to do other things. But, for a while now, the online auctions have been calling for me to come back (in my mind at least), and I think I am going to answer that call!
Well since leaving the auction business in 2007, I have still been selling merchandise online, but I have been selling it on my own websites. I still do that, but I want to get back to selling on auctions as well, and I think that I have some valuable information to share with you. I certainly have plenty of good info about my past experiences, but my new journey should prove informative too. I know that in the past 2+ years there have been plenty of changes on eBay and other auctions. The new economic times that we are living in also presents new challenges, but also new opportunities for the auction seller. So, this journey will be a chance to learn more, and also apply my previous knowledge.
This blog, Auctiontopia, will give me a chance to share with you the new things that I will be learning as my journey develops, and also give you some tips based on my previous experience.
A brief bit of history about myself. I started selling on eBay in 1998, until 2000. I took a break from that for about 2 years, because I moved to the Philippines. In 2002, the bug bit me again, and I started selling on eBay again, this time selling from the Philippines. By 2003 or so, I was firmly established as a Powerseller on eBay, which means that I was doing a minimum of $1,000 per month, while maintaining a positive feedback rating of at least 98% on the site. In truth, I was doing a lot more business than $1,000 per month, I was doing many times that amount of business. On average I had 800 to 1,000 individual auctions running at any given time. It was a full time job for me, and I also had a staff of about 5 employees at that time.
This time, I don’t think I plan to get that heavily into auction selling again, but you never know. I am the type of person that tends to jump all the way in once I find a bit of success, wo I may be more active on eBay than I intend to at this time. If I do get that active again, you’ll know about it, because I intend to write about my eBay experiences right here on Auctiontopia!
I hope you will be a regular reader, and that you will also participate by leaving comments here as well!

Hi Bob,
I look forward to your journey, and learning something at the same time.
You got me a little confused, not difficult LOL.Sites seem to have move around a bit,i see you have incorporated virtual earner in to “Mindanao Bob Home” site.
regards Chas.
Hi Chasdv – Ha ha.. sorry to have confused you. The problem is that you are too “on the ball” and found this site a little early! I was planning to make an announcement about some site reshuffling next week, but you found it early!
Basically, I shut down Virtual Earner, and I shut down my Health Log Blog, and incorporated the content from those sites into MindanaoBob.com. Then, all the Virtual Earner articles that were about eBay, I moved here to Auctiontopia, which is a new blog that I will be starting up about my journey into a new Online Auction business. I think it will be interesting to follow along the journey, at least I hope it will.
Oh yeah, I also shut down my Coffee Blog, and rolled that into MindanaoBob as well.
I feel that on my other blogs that I closed down, I didnt’ have enough to say regularly to make them very relevant. By combining that content into MindanaoBob, I can still write about those things, but if I don’t write about a single topic often, it’s OK, because they are just part of a bigger site. MindanaoBob is a site about me, and all of these things are also about me and my lifestyle, so I think it makes sense to move it the way I did.
Glad that you were able to sniff out the path and follow along, chasdv. Thanks also for being the first to comment here on Auctiontopia! The other comments that you see here were all imported from their original location, at Virtual Earner.
