eBay Live just died

A lot of old jokes or plays on words can be used on this one…

Going, going, gone?  Yep, eBay Live is now gone.

eBay has announced that eBay Live is no more, it has died.  What is, or was, eBay Live?  Well, it was a huge “convention” or gathering of eBay users each year.  Every year a different location was chosen to host the big eBay Live Conference.

I personally never made it to an eBay Live Conference, although it is something that I always wished that I had a chance to attend.  Now, I suppose I will never have the chance.

The past couple of eBay Live events were slowing down, with smaller attendances, and a less “fanatic” crowd, according to reports.  So, I suppose that it is natural that eBay has decided to end future eBay Live Events.

Instead of eBay Live, apparently eBay intends to hold smaller regional conferences.  Perhaps this will enable more people to attend, since they will be “closer to home” than the big Live events of the past.

Bye, bye, eBay Live!

    Hi Bob,

I heard of an eBay Live event recently held here in Chicago. The reports said the event did not go so well. Besides the low turnout, many attendees voiced their opposition to the constant changes (and price increases) eBay was imposing. There were even some YouTube videos of angry attendees verbally attacking the speakers. Now I have nothing against eBay as it served me as a test model for an online business venture. However, the price increases do hurt the smaller sellers. Still, I intend to return to selling on eBay later next month.

Hi Henry – Yeah, my understanding is that one of the reasons why eBay Live Died is because the last couple shows did not experience the same level of success as normal. I wonder why? Maybe the economy is keeping people away?

Ever since the early days of eBay, price increases for fees have been a big issue! No doubt there!

It’s interesting. I would have thought that this economy would drive more people to eBay. Actually, it may be that people are using eBay, but not willing to shell out cash for a conference.

Hi Tom – I think that right now, people are going to eBay to sell and buy (cheaper), but not willing to spend for a conference.
